I am running for the Board on a platform of care and accountability. Like your family, my family values education. We have a second-grader and a fifth-grader in CUSD.

 

As Mayor of Cupertino, I implemented best practices despite significant external pressures. As a result, we are both thriving and improving.

 

CUSD needs to emphasize genuine care for our students. When I listen to Board meetings and various comments made during the pandemic, I find myself thinking, "Do these actions and attitudes truly demonstrate care for our children and students?" This is the core concern. The District must, first and foremost, focus on earning a reputation for care.

 

Effective public-agency accountability also requires experience. I will deliver what is needed and appropriate. Balancing considerations such as class sizes and teacher compensation, for instance, requires honesty. I know what it takes to be intelligent and to maintain good relationships while being forthright with people and colleagues in a public setting.

 

Caring for our kids and for the community drives success for everyone. I stand with you to ensure accountability to the resources of the public, and to our families and households.
